These days, every new concept car seems to have ultra-thin seats, but they never go any further than the drawing board. So you might need to sit down for this news - all that is about to change with this new chair.
French component firm Faurecia has revealed a slim seat that will make production. "It's not just a showpiece," said designer Andreas Wlasak.
The seat is set to appear in an unnamed new car within two years, and as Faurecia is owned by PSA Peugeot Citroen, it's not hard to narrow down the options. The chair uses a high-performance foam, and while the cushions are thinner than on normal seats, they are said to be comfortable for both the buttocks and back. Passengers in the rear benefit, too, as they gain nearly 5cm of extra knee room.
